The American Indian

American Indian art work
She Who Sings in the Morning
. . . Graphite  22 x 14 (28 x 20 matted)

Many of the Lakota people on the PineRidge and Rosebud reservations where I live in South Dakota wear native dress during pow-wows. Women wear traditional dress of brightly colored cloth adorned with a wide variety of shells, beads, quills or other ornaments. Jingle dancers wear fancy costumes with feathers and bells.
This young woman, like many of the native people in this area, still wear their hair long and uncut, braided or loose with beadwork of colors that celebrate their culture.
